Friday the 13th Again?! 😱 Two Months in a Row… and There’s One More Coming This Year!

Friday the 13th Again?! 😱 Two Months in a Row… and There’s One More Coming This Year!

Today is Friday the 13th… again.

Last month we already had one, and now it’s happening two months in a row. Even more surprising, this year will have three Friday the 13ths, something that always sparks curiosity and superstition around the world.

But why does this date feel so mysterious?

Throughout history, many cultures believed that certain dates carry strange energy when they repeat or cluster together. Some European folklore warned that when Friday the 13th appears multiple times in a single year, it was a sign of cosmic imbalance in the calendar, when unlucky cycles overlap.

In old maritime traditions, sailors were especially cautious about this date. Some captains refused to start voyages on a Friday the 13th, believing storms and shipwrecks were more likely.

In parts of Eastern Europe, people once believed that when two Friday the 13ths occur close together, spirits and wandering souls were said to move more freely between the worlds of the living and the dead.

Others simply see it as a fascinating quirk of the calendar:
Because of how months align with weekdays, every year will always have at least one Friday the 13th, but occasionally the calendar creates years with three of them.

Whether you see it as bad luck, mystery, or just math, one thing is certain:

Dates like this have fascinated humanity for centuries.

Explore legends and stories to discover its enigmas and mysteries.

Tonight’s Blood Moon (Total Lunar Eclipse) was a rare and powerful sky event.

During a total lunar eclipse, Earth moves directly between the Sun and the Moon, casting a shadow that turns the full Moon a deep red.

This dramatic color happens because Earth’s atmosphere bends and filters sunlight, allowing mostly red tones to reach the Moon’s surface.

For thousands of years, eclipses inspired myths and legends around the world.

The ancient Chinese believed a celestial dragon was swallowing the Moon. In Inca tradition, a jaguar attacked it. In Hindu mythology, the demon Rahu chased and devoured the Moon. Norse legends told of cosmic wolves hunting it across the sky.

Across cultures, people made noise banging drums or pots to scare away whatever creature they believed was causing the darkness.

Today we understand the science, but the magic remains. The Blood Moon reminds us how connected humanity has always been to the sky: watching, wondering, and telling stories under the same Moon. 🌕✨

The Legend of Friday the 13th exists in several cultures that associate the number 13 and also Friday with bad luck. So when the 13th coincides on Friday, it is considered a day of misfortune.

In the Christian tradition, Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit on a Friday and Cain killed Abel that same day of the week.

The imperfection of the number 13 is also linked to the innumerable references to the number 12 in the Bible (12 tribes of Israel and 12 disciples), thus, the number 13 would be at odds with God's design.

At the last supper, on a Thursday, Jesus was with his 12 disciples, 13 in total, including Judas, the traitor. The next day, a Friday, Jesus was arrested and crucified.

In Revelation, it is in chapter 13 where the number of the beast and the antichrist is mentioned. Kabbalah, in Judaism, lists thirteen evil spirits.

In mythology there is another explanation for bad luck. According to a legend of Nordic origin, the god Odin made a feast with twelve other deities. Loki, god of discord and fire, having not been invited, when he knew he encouraged and caused the death of one of the guests.

So, according to superstition, there is a fear that an encounter with 13 people will end in tragedy.

Even Frigga, Odin's wife and goddess of fertility, is also related to Friday the 13th, as the Catholic Church, during the conversion of the barbarians, considered Frigga to be a demon.

And, according to legend, she, the devil and eleven other witches go out every Friday to avenge themselves by cursing plagues against humanity.

In History also is the origin of the supreme bad luck, which is to add Fridays to the number 13…

… because in the French monarchy, when King Filipe IV felt threatened by the monetary influence and power exercised by the religious order of the Knights Templar, he tried to join the prestigious order, but as he was refused, the king ordered the persecution and execution of the Templars …

… on a Friday, October the 13th of 1307.

Today 01-02-2026 occurs the Full Snow Moon.

This is the second full moon this year.

Full moons have been linked to many myths and legends throughout the years, including the end of the world, lunacy and even werewolves.

For many years, people have believed that there is a connection between a full moon and lunacy.

In fact the word "lunacy" comes from Luna, the Roman goddess of the moon, who was said to ride through the sky each night.

Some people still believes that werewolves could appear during this full moon.

The legend has its origin in pagan tribes, where the initiation of warriors was linked to the transformation of man into a wolf.

"Snow Moon" as this is the name given in the northern hemisphere to the first full moon of February, a time of snowstorms in this region.

For thousands of years Snow Moon has also been called Storm Moon and Hunger Moon.

Among Native American tribes, it was also known as Bone Moon because there was so little food that people gnawed bones to survive.

This was the Full Snow Moon of 2026.
